Easton Residents Overwhelmingly Back Operational Override at Town Meeting — Now the Final Step is June 10th

On Monday May 19th, Easton voters made their voices heard in a big way. At the Annual Town Meeting, residents overwhelmingly approved the proposed FY2026 operating budget, which includes an operational override to preserve essential services in our schools, public safety, and town departments. The message was clear: Easton supports funding the town’s future.

But there’s one more step before the override can take effect.

While Town Meeting gave strong approval to the budget, the operational override must now pass at the ballot box during a Special Election on Tuesday, June 10th. The override question will appear as a single “Yes” or “No” vote—asking residents if they agree to raise additional funds to match the budget already approved.

What’s at Stake

This override is not about new programs or luxuries. It’s about maintaining the quality of life in Easton that we value:

  • Keeping class sizes from rising

  • Preserving academic and extracurricular programs

  • Preventing cuts to public safety staff and town services

  • Investing in long-term fiscal stability

Town leaders and community members have made it clear that without this override, painful and lasting cuts will be required across nearly every department. The FY2026 budget that passed Town Meeting includes funding to avoid those cuts—but only if voters approve the override at the ballot.

June 10th: The Final Step

The success at Town Meeting was an important first victory. But Town Meeting only authorizes the budget. For it to be legally funded, a majority of Easton voters must now vote YES on June 10th.

  • When: Tuesday, June 10, 2025

  • Where: Oliver Ames High School Gym

  • Time: 7 AM – 8 PM

This is your chance to shape Easton’s future and protect the services that make our town a strong, thriving community.

Let’s keep the momentum going. Let’s finish what we started.

Vote YES on June 10th!
